We are delighted to bring you an exciting update from our recent participation in the Global Health Catalyst Summit from May 4 – 6, 2023 at Pennsylvania. The theme of the summit was, “Cancer Moonshot 2.0: Win-win Collaboration to Advance Global Health and Development.” Our very own Ms. Esther Peters, the Program Manager at African Women’s Cancer Awareness Association (AWCAA), represented us at this prestigious event. Not only did she attend the summit, but she also had the opportunity to share her powerful story of resilience and determination.

Ms. Esther Peters, an African immigrant from Nigeria, spoke passionately about her personal journey with breast cancer during the interview. Her story is one that touches the heart, inspires and empowers others facing similar challenges. Her courage and strength have been a shining example for our community.

Being diagnosed with breast cancer as an African immigrant came with its own set of unique challenges. However, she never let any of the challenges she faced deter her. Through her unwavering determination and the support of AWCAA, Esther overcame these barriers and became a beacon of hope for others.

As Program Manager at AWCAA, Esther has been instrumental in developing and implementing impactful initiatives to raise awareness about breast cancer among African women. Under her leadership, we have witnessed significant progress in providing educational resources, facilitating early detection programs, and advocating for improved healthcare services.

The Global Health Summit served as a platform for Esther to share our organization’s vision, accomplishments, and ongoing initiatives. She emphasized the importance of community support and the need for increased awareness about breast cancer, particularly within African communities. Her insights and recommendations were well-received by international experts, who praised the collaborative efforts of AWCAA.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Esther Peters for her outstanding representation of AWCAA and her impactful contribution to the global health community. Her story is a testament to the resilience and strength that reside within each of us.
