Living with diabetes while battling breast cancer can be too much of a health burden to bear. The contact communication with your health care professional, the constant intake of medications, the need to watch your diet, exercise often, stay conscious of the rules that guide managing each disease condition can be quite stressful.
To help our community adequately manage and deal with diabetes and breast cancer, we organized a one-day online workshop on “Understanding the ABCs of Diabetes and its Impact on Women Living with Breast Cancer.” This event took place on October 10, 2020.
This workshop was funded under the 2020 DC HOPE Grant, which is focused on helping women living with diabetes and breast cancer be better informed on understanding both diseases, how to manage them and living healthy.
Thanks to Dr. Adeola Akindana, our resource person on this project who has been doing an amazing job in working with AWCAA to successfully serve our community through these workshops.
