It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved colleague, Aisatu Wurie. She was among those that passed from extreme heat during this year’s Mecca pilgrimage. Her dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to our mission have left an indelible mark on our organization and all those we serve.
Isatu was more than just a co-worker; they were a friend, a mentor, and a source of inspiration to us all. Her tireless efforts and compassionate spirit have made a profound difference in the lives of many. We will forever cherish the memories and the impact she had on our team and community.
Mrs. Isatu has been a member of the African Women’s Cancer Awareness Association since 2009. She held various positions and managed our volunteer and membership committee for over 10 years. She was always willing to use her resources to help grow the organization and even led a medical mission to her home country, Sierra Leone, in 2017.
In the last few weeks before her untimely death, she was working so hard to help organize our 20th Anniversary Gala. It’s hard to believe she won’t be with us to celebrate.
As we mourn this significant loss, we also celebrate Isatu’s life and the incredible legacy she leaves behind. Our thoughts and prayers are with their family and loved ones during this difficult time.
In honor of Isatu, we are committed to continuing the important work they were so passionate about. Let us come together to support one another and uphold the values they held dear.
