We at AWCAA are glad to have volunteered at the COVID-19 Day of Action on Saturday, May 1, 2021, hosted by Mayor Bowser for Washington DC residents. This event was organized to encourage DC residents to pre-register for their free COVID-19 vaccination appointment. Our volunteer location was at the Renaissance Learning Center at 6323 Georgia Ave, NW DC under the Mayor’s Office on African Affairs. We helped to register the volunteers who were responsible for knocking on doors of DC residents to encourage and help them pre-register for vaccination. We also prepared bags for the volunteers to take with them, as well as worked with the volunteers to map out areas of the city they were to visit. 15 centrally located sites across all 8 Wards in DC were activated for pre-registration on May 1, 2021. We were glad to receive a thank you letter from Serve DC at the end of the day.
DC residents can now pre-register for a vaccination appointment by going to vaccinate.dc.gov or call 1-855-363-0333. Already vaccinated or pre-registered? Reach out to friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors and help them pre-register. Together we can save lives and end this pandemic.
